Teeth Whitening

What exactly is professional Teeth Whitening?

Professional teeth whitening utilizes special ingredients that lift and eradicate stains deep in the teeth. As you age, and because of certain lifestyle habits, you may find that your teeth begin to become dull and yellow. This can put a damper on your self-esteem and confidence, causing you to feel embarrassed to smile. Fortunately, teeth whitening can be done in-office, or as a take-home treatment, allowing for this treatment to be convenient to you. Our whitening options use professional-quality ingredients, so they are far superior to options available at your local store.

Why would you need to have Teeth Whitening done?

You may want or need whitening done because you’re unhappy with your appearance. Your teeth might be stained, severely discolored, or yellow-looking. You might avoid smiling because you are embarrassed to show your less-than-perfect teeth. In this case, professional whitening can help you achieve the smile of your dreams. Some people want to whiten their teeth before an upcoming event, or may want to have the procedure done prior to having restorations placed that are whiter than the existing teeth. Whatever your goals, we can provide you with quality whitening that you will feel comfortable using.

What makes you a good candidate for Whitening?

Patients who want professional whitening will need to have come into the office at least once in the past year. You will have a consultation with Dr. Bassiri prior to the whitening procedure. We will discuss the options we have available, so that you can be sure you’re choosing what’s right for you. Maintaining your results is important, since your professional whitening can last for months, or even years, when you take good care of your teeth following treatment. Whitening is safe for most patients, but it does not work to whiten pre-existing restorations such as crowns, bridges, veneers, or fillings. Whitening is safe for sensitive teeth, but gum sensitivity is normal for about a week after whitening.

What can you expect during routine Teeth Whitening?

We offer two different options for teeth whitening. The first option involves take-home trays that use a professional ingredient designed to whiten teeth. This treatment option is ideal for patients who want to whiten their teeth at home, but would like to benefit from professional-quality results. The second option we offer is known as Boost, which is an in-office whitening treatment done in a couple of hours.  This option delivers quick, quality, lasting results without requiring the LED light and delivers less sensitivity. For either procedure, we’ll have a consultation with you so that you can choose which option is right for your needs.
